New Mexico Friends of Foster Children

By funding common childhood activities, equipment, and experiences as well as educational supports and basic needs, NMFFC is striving to improve the outcomes for children who are/have experienced foster care which, in turn, strengthens the individuals and the families in our communities. Our programs include:

  • Style and Fit:  Provide assistance with clothing and footwear needs of foster children/youth by providing $150 shopping awards.

  • Expanding Horizons Awards:  Fund items and experiences that are fundamentally a part of growing up.  Examples of our work through this program include covering the cost of bicycles, museum/camp fees, tutoring, martial arts classes, musical instruments, and technology.

  • Summer Fun Awards: Help children in care stay active and have fun in their homes and outdoors. Introduced in response to the COVID pandemic. Past awards include museum passes, day trips to national parks, wading pools, outdoor games, and art supplies.

  • It’s Your Birthday!:  Celebrates each young person’s special day with gifts or gift cards tailored to their interests as well as a book based on their age.

  • Scholarships: For youth who experience foster care for at least one year in New Mexico. Up to $1,000 for expenses related to post-high school plans (college, trade school, training program).
